Woolgatherers - new-build eco home

This family home was developed according to strict sustainable design principles. It was built using eco-friendly materials and methods of construction and incorporates a range of green technologies.

It is orientated so as to harness the sun, both passively, through large glazing, and actively, with a whole roof covered in solar panels (both hot water and photovoltaic). It is heated by a ground source heat pump. It was constructed using sustainable and breathable materials (such as hemp and lime walls), as well as durable, recyclable materials. The project was executed by expert sustainable contractors: Greenheart Construction.

Despite its distinctive architectural design, it sits discreetly in its surroundings, nestling back into the hillside and enjoying glorious views across the valley.
